The Creation of an RNIB Centre for the Migration, Origination, Archiving and Production of Alternative Format Files

Standards

Without wishing to define the actual standards which the RNIB should employ, the following notes are supplied for guidance:

4.1 All standards should be transparent, public and in accordance with broad current and leading edge usage

4.2 All processes should adhere to common standards both for the purposes of production and migration

4.3 No standard should be adopted without a migration process to take into account valued legacy material or metadata

4.4 All standards should maximise automation for origination, archiving, production and migration.
