The humanITy Digital Inclusion Manifesto

Foreword

humanITy is publishing this Digital Inclusion Manifesto to celebrate the beginning of our second decade of work in e-inclusion. Contrary to many 'Utopian' predictions in the mid 1990s, the growth in the ownership of digital technology has had a disappointing impact on the "Final Third" and, even more so on the "Struggling Seventh", the most disadvantaged 15% of the population.

This Manifesto sets out a broad range of evidence-based, radical proposals for dealing with the major, outstanding problems in e-inclusion, particularly emphasising the necessary shift from consumption to production and the need for a multi platform approach.

humanITy has an unrivalled track record in our field but we recognise that we are a small organisation. We therefore present our proposals, offering ourselves as a catalyst and co-coordinator for action.

We would welcome responses to our proposals, specifying the projects in which you would be interested and your proposed role/contribution.

Even if you do not want to participate directly, we hope you will find the Manifesto interesting and urge you to pass it on to your contacts in the field.
