The Case for the Radically Simple Interface and Intelligent Information System

Data

4.1       Unmediated digital data, exemplified by the World Wide Web, presents problems for people who do not know:

  • What they want
  • What their potential choices are
  • How to define a search
  • How to assign weight/value to data (media literacy)

4.2       In these circumstances what people need is a set of dialogue based search tools. For example, if I institute a search for "Dogs" the obvious questions are:

  • What kind of dogs?
  • What aspect of dogs?
  • What level of technicality?
  • Current best practice or historical?

This might result in a search for non technical, current best practice on the diet for adult Labradors.
